Introduction

An organisation working in the area of democracy and governance seeks to recruit an Assistant Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning Officer.


Job purpose

The Assistant MEAL Officer will be providing support in monitoring and evaluating of sub-grantee organisations implementing interventions across the country’s 10 provinces. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting the overall M&E and learning needs of the project including coordination of sub-grantee real data transmission and quality control. The incumbent will also be involved in report compilation for institutional donors at agreed timelines.


Main duties and responsibilities

To facilitate regular data collection through implementing partners and ensure quality of the data by random verifications and validations; To record, manage and preserve monitoring and evaluation data in a safe and accessible way; To analyse and discuss findings based on regular monitoring data; Provide technical support on M&E and evidence-based recommendations to the relevant Project Manager and Partners; Ensure that implementation of field activities adheres to the organisation’s monitoring and evaluation system; Support partners in reporting and collecting feedback from communities; Participate actively in planning quarterly review meetings, providing feedback and report writing; Support the programme implementation team in dealing with any other tasks as may be required


Person specification

A degree in M&E or any social science discipline related to Governance and Elections. A post-graduate qualification in Monitoring and Evaluation would be an added advantage.


Experience

Minimum 3 years’ experience in monitoring and evaluation within a non-governmental organisation; Experience of field data collection, partner capacity building and report writing; Experience of organising lesson-learning sessions and programme reviews


Other attributes

Time management and ability to prioritise multiple tasks; Self-motivated person able to work without close supervision; Able to work effectively in a diverse team environment; Travelling to far remote areas independently for M&E; Willing to work additional hours at crucial times.
