Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the following posts: DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES POST A: ADMINISTRATIVE MATRON (Gweru Campus) QUALIFICATIONS A Registered General Nurse 5 O Levels including Maths and English Current valid practising certificate with the Nurses council of Zimbabwe. A post-basic qualification or an administrative qualification is an added advantage 2 years’ experience in a nursing managerial position or nurse in charge position in any Health Institution or equivalent experience working within the MSU Health Services is a must DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The duties and responsibilities include the following; General Health Services administration and reports to the Director Health Services. Involved in the design and execution of health education programmes for the University community and production of relevant IEC material. Facilitate health workshops for new student orientation, sub warden trainings, student leaders, faculty and staff members. Spearheading preventive healthcare programs to the campus and off-campus community. Demand creation for services offered through awareness campaigns. Committee meeting attendance to allow for the Doctor to attend to treatment of patients were such need is identified as per guidance from the HOD. Involved in performance evaluations for clinical staff as guided by the HOD and in accordance with protocols established by University. Ensure that all equipment and supplies are in good working order and calibrated per manufacturer’s guidelines, including emergency response equipment. Management of all students’ clubs under the health services department. Conducting needs assessment of issues that affect students. Supervision and management of the Student Resources Centre. Organise the Care Pathway for students prior to each semester opening in liaison with the MSU Medical Aid Fund managers. POST B: NURSE IN CHARGE (Zvishavane X1, Harare X1, Gweru X1) QUALIFICATIONS A qualified registered general Nurse. 5 O Levels including Maths and English Current valid registration certificate with the Nurses council of Zimbabwe. 2 years’ experience in a similar position in any health institution or equivalent experience working within the MSU Health services a must A post-basic qualification is an added advantage DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Nurse in-charge of the clinical aspects of the day to day running of their resident health facility. Ensures compliance with best clinical practices to do with Infection prevention and control (during patient care), staff upkeep with standard health guidelines, record keeping and emergency preparedness. Oversees the preparation of, compliance to and operationalization of departmental staff duty rota; is responsible for health coverage for sporting events, university events and trips. Monitors upkeep to the Departmental SOPs when carrying out day to day activities. Participates in the actual patient care and treatment as a nurse. Organises clinical meetings regularly were the department discusses interesting cases attended to, in a bid to learn from these experiences and improve service delivery. Provide channels of follow up on the care of referred students to check on their progress and their continuous support in the provision of care where ever they could be admitted. Assigns responsible persons to accurately and timely compile and submit statistics to the MOHCW, City Health and NAC as well as internal record keeping.
