Communications Officer: Education Coalition of Zimbabwe (ECOZI) Deadline: 7 February 2020 The Education Coalition of Zimbabwe (ECOZI) is looking for a Communications Officer. Working directly under the supervision of the National Coordinator, the Communications Officer will work closely with Programmes and Finance teams. Overview of the role The role involves leading and coordinating the documentation and communication of the organisation’s work in advocacy and enhancing its public engagement. The Communications Officer will oversee strategic and policy engagement in advocacy, including ensuring advocacy activities remain focused on ECOZI’s strategy, contribute to concrete deliverables and are documented appropriately. Summary of key functions Knowledge management and communications; Policy advocacy and research; Promoting ECOZI visibility and engagement Knowledge Management and Communications Lead in the development and implementation of ECOZI communications and advocacy strategies; Ensure effective documentation of best practices and the lessons learnt; Produce knowledge products based on the implementation experiences and interactions with various stakeholders and players; Through various communication channels, the work and impact of ECOZI are effectively profiled and contribute to an improved understanding, support and engagement from members and partners; Provide inputs in knowledge products and communication materials on ECOZI programmes. Ensure there is a yearly communication and digital platform action plan with deliverables in place. Policy Advocacy and Research The Communications Officer will also oversee key national level public engagements as they pertain to policy, advocacy and communications: Lead and manage the ECOZI’s Policy, Advocacy and Knowledge management efforts; Support messaging and policy briefs in collaboration with coalition members Promoting ECOZI visibility and engagement Act as a focal point person for external and media engagement on ECOZ’s strategic focus areas, which may require profiling and advocacy interventions; Build the profile, further position and manage the reputation of ECOZI through media engagement, with a particular focus on expanding ECOZI digital and social media footprint. Build strategic partnerships with other civil society organisations, donors, government and other organisations to enhance coalition building; Coordinate, monitor and manage reputational risk narrative and brand issues associated with the organisation; Content creation and management of social media platforms and the website. Supporting in the development and design of digital content for social media; website, and print materials Qualifications University Degree or Diploma in Journalism, International Relations, Mass Communication or equivalent; A fast learner with not less than 2 years’ experience in conducting national advocacy campaigns; Experience of working in a membership based organization in the same or related capacity; Experience in developing communication materials such as publications, webcasts and other new media tools; Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; Confident presentation and facilitation skills, demonstrated commitment to working for a membership based organisation.
