Position summary


The post-holders will be based in Mutasa, Makoni, Nyanga districts and Mutare urban but will be living with the local communities. The contract will be for 12 months from the start of the study. A competitive package commensurate with experience and qualifications will be offered


Job description


Assisting with community entry in the study areas; Living in study communities for a period of 12 months and carry out qualitative research; Conducting in depth interviews and participant observation; Assisting with data cleaning; Recruit and be able to obtain informed consent for research from individuals and local communities; Be sensitive to and respect for different social and cultural issues; Guarantee confidentiality when conducting ethnographic research; Conducting face to face in depth interviews and participant observation; Carry out other tasks which may occasionally be necessary appropriate to the post, as determined by the immediate Supervisor.


Qualification requirements


A University Degree in Social Sciences such as Social Anthropology; Sociology or Psychology; Willingness to live as a member of the local community (essential); Commitment to HIV and Covid-19 control and research (essential); Respectful attitude and an open mind towards the use of alternative and complementary healing approaches (essential); Previous HIV research experience (desirable); Excellent verbal and written Shona and English fluency; Have a valid Good Clinical Practice (GCP); Computer literate; High personal motivation and self-driven; Excellent time management; Reliable, diligent, detail-oriented worker who can see tasks through to completion; Accurate, honest, dependable and flexible; Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle and protect sensitive data with integrity; Ability to work with limited supervision and on own initiative;
