job Description

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking a Communications Officer for the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and Climate Adaptation Water and Energy Programme (CAWEP) in Zimbabwe. The mission involves supporting the Government of Zimbabwe in achieving its climate goals through CAWEP, focusing on building climate resilience in vulnerable communities.

Duties and Responsibilities

-Support projects in raising their profiles nationally, regionally, and internationally.
-Contribute to communicating project results and ensuring key stakeholders are informed regularly.
-Capture and disseminate project stories and lessons learned through diverse media formats.
-Assist in public events, roundtable discussions, seminars, press conferences, and outreach events.
-Create and package key messages and communication products following the Communications Strategy.
-Develop and maintain a communications and knowledge management system for the projects.
-Support social media portfolios and publications of human interest photo-stories.
-Assist in the development of communication materials for meetings and project site M&E missions.
-Participate in training for communications personnel from Responsible Partners.
-Collaborate with donor(s) communication experts for cross-learning.
-Arrange briefings and meetings with other UN agencies and national/international media.
-Undertake any other tasks as required or assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

-3 years of experience with excellent oral and written skills.
-Experience in working with Adobe multimedia products (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, etc.).
-Excellent interpersonal skills, cultural and socially sensitive.
-Ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with diverse partners.
-Familiarity with communication for development tools and approaches.
-Ability to work in a challenging environment and multicultural team.
-Solid computer literacy, including MS Office applications and email/internet.
-Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimum supervision.
-Flexibility and willingness to work with tight deadlines.

Required Education Level:
Bachelor degree or equivalent in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or other relevant programs.
