An exciting opportunity for the position of Estate Nurse has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced person at Allied Timbers Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd. Allied Timbers Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd administers the largest commercial forestry plantations in Zimbabwe. The successful incumbent will report directly to the Human Resources Manager.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Responsible for the development and administration of efficient and professional operations of occupational health services in accordance with company policies, practices, procedures, and applicable regulations to achieve the desired goals and objectives. Assists with all aspects of health services staffing, competency, processes, customer service, and quality improvement.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
o Assure compliance with regulatory requirements related to clinical operations
o Responsible for securing and developing all records, equipment, and programs related to occupational health services
o Collaborate with outside resources for program development, such as healthcare providers, third-party administrators, legal advisors, medical director, regulatory agencies, etc.
o Responsible for assuring the appropriate access and utilization of healthcare services
o Evaluate and treat all injuries and illnesses in an efficient and professional manner within the scope of practice and consistent with clinical nursing guidelines.
o Guide and direct all referrals to outside healthcare providers and services.
o Provide or manage the required physical evaluation programs and services to meet regulatory requirement; such as EMCAZ, Ministry of Health and NSSA.
o Train and lead ergonomic team to assess jobs and provide input regarding ergonomic improvements.
o Administer the company’s Drug- distribution.
o Assist with the accident investigation program to identify root cause analysis of all incidents and near misses.
o Provide appropriate case management.
o Manage all cases to facilitate productivity, assuring appropriate care and return to work
o Includes workers’ compensation, short- and long-term disability cases.
o Assess healthcare needs, then implement and manage healthcare programs to improve health and facilitate return to work, maintain OSHA records/reports and worker medical files.
o Assist departments with identifying, evaluating, and implementing accommodations and return to work options for workers with restricted duty.
o Collaborate with Environmental Health and Safety, Operations, and Human Resources to develop operations, programs, and services by providing content expertise.
o Contribute in the design of controls for injury prevention and health surveillance related to actual and potential hazards in the work environment.
o Identify primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention and health promotion strategies to optimise health of the population.
o Responsible for direct and indirect supervision of health services staff
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
o A team player— able to identify and rectify skills gaps and recommend try interventions.
o Excellent presentation skills —Power point
o Very analytical skills (excel spreadsheet)
o Diploma in Nursing
o 3 years Nursing experience
A remuneration package commensurate with education and experience will be given to the successful candidate.
