Purpose of the position
The candidate will be responsible for preparing the M&E plan, conducting regular monitoring exercises, field missions and proper documentation of the project information; He/she will be responsible for tracking the achievements, processes and the establishment of accountability mechanisms; The successful candidate will support the project team in ensuring quality in all aspects of the project work. He/she will also develop relationships with relevant stakeholders at the district level, work smoothly with communities and all stakeholders. The M & E Officer will represent SOS Children’s Village emergency program in the relevant coordination forums at the district level.
Priority tasks & responsibilities
The Emergency Response Monitoring & Evaluation Officer will contribute to the development of relevant tools to monitor and manage the project; Continual tracking and monitoring of the indicators in the project log frame; Monitor the accountability and compliance mechanisms and processes during all phases of the project implementation; Ensure compliance of the project implementation and overall management with the internal, government and donor policies, guidelines and regulations; Serve as the primary focal person for all monitoring and evaluation related work to the emergency response project including responding to data queries from the project coordinator; Assume full responsibility for documenting project stories of change and case studies; Lead the preparation, reviewing and submission of quality project progress reports monthly, quarterly and submission of final project report; Provide technical support and guide project staff on M & E related tissues.
Qualifications and competencies
The Monitoring and Evaluation officer must have; Bachelor degree in statistics, demographics, public policy, international development, economics, monitoring, and evaluation or related field; Minimum of five years professional experience in an M&E position with experience in implementing M&E activities in emergency response projects; Master’s degree in the relevant field plus a certificate in M&E; A clean class 4 driver’s license, good writing, analytical and communication skills; Relevant experience in field survey/data collection (qualitative and quantitative) techniques, data entry, data verification, and analysis; Strong computer literacy with knowledge of MS Office applications; Ability to work in a composed, competent and committed manner and exercise careful judgment in meeting day-to-day challenges; Ability to deliver results, produce and deliver quality results in a service-oriented and timely manner; Commitment and be action-oriented in order to achieve agreed outcomes.
