3 SIMPLE STEPS TO A SOUTH AFRICA VISA
Visa applications for Zimbabwean residents are to be submitted at the South Africa Visa Application Centres in Zimbabwe. All applications will be assessed by The South African Embassy, Harare
KNOW YOUR VISA TYPE
Before making your application, you to ascertain whether you need a visa or permit, and which category you want to apply for. Please see below for available Visa and Residence permit categories.
Please make sure that you comply with all the requirements of your selected category, since incomplete applications will not qualify for submission to the South African High Commission.
VFS Global is not involved in the decision-making process and cannot influence the outcome of your visa application. The South African High Commission will make the decision on your application after assessing your application form and documents.

HOW TO APPLY
Step 1 :
Please go to the link “Visa Types ” at top of page to choose the right category for you, and read carefully all sections including Documents Required and Processing Time before proceeding with your application.
Step 2 :
Please complete the application form for your chosen category in full, ensure it is signed, print a copy and bring with you when attending for your appointment.
Step 3 :
Mandatory – Please Schedule An Appointment at the Application Centre to submit your application. You should submit your application no more than 90 days prior to your date of travel. You will be prompted to pay the service charge when scheduling your appointment. This fee must be paid online only, and cannot be paid at the visa application centre. Please ensure that you print both your Appointment Letter and emaill confirmation of proof of payment, and bring both with you when attending the Application Centre. The visa fee can only be paid in person at the time of your appointment.
Please carry the originals and copies of all documents.
ALL applicants traveling MUST apply in person.
Step 4 :
When arriving at the Application Centre, you will need to show your appointment confirmation letter at reception. You will then be issued a token and directed to the waiting area. You will next be called to our submission counter where your application and supporting documents will be scrutinized, and your photograph and passport checked for validity.
Finally, you will be issued a receipt for the fees and service charge paid as an acknowledgement of the transaction.
Applicants requiring special physical assistance are requested to contact our Helpline prior to visiting our centre so that appropriate support can be offered. Please note that only applicants and carers/assistants will be permitted to enter the Application Centre.
Requesting Multiple Entry – Important Information
If requesting a multiple entry visa, you must provide a motivational letter stating the reasons/justification for your request. Please also provide flight/travel reservation documentation, hotel reservations and details of full travel itinerary. Please note that travel/hotel bookings should be provisional only and not confirmed.
Please also provide visas to all countries of intended visit for the current trip, original and copies. For example, if you are travelling to South Africa and intend on visiting a neighboring country such as Botswana within the same trip, you must provide your visa for Botswana or documented proof that you have applied for this visa. If visas have been applied for, please provide the relevant documentation as proof.
Alternatively, if you do not require a visa to any of the neighboring countries, please provide proof of exemption.
Please note that although applicants may request a multiple entry visa, the decision to grant the same is not guaranteed and is at the sole discretion of the Embassy of South Africa.
Important – Please be aware that all decisions regarding the issuance of, number of entries and duration of a visa are at the sole discretion of the embassy, and it is not guaranteed that the embassy will grant your request.
Processing time – Please note that applicants should be aware of the processing time for their chosen category of visa and apply accordingly. Please also note that all processing times are minimum as stated, and in some cases may take longer.
When to apply – For Short-Stay visas less than 3 months you should apply no more than 4 weeks in advance of your intended travel date. For Long-Stay visas more than 3 months you should apply no more than 9 weeks in advance of your intended travel date. Once you submit your application, you must wait until the Embassy has made a decision on your case. This process will take a minimum of/at least 1 month, provided that a complete file is submitted. However, it may take longer in certain cases.
You can track your application using the reference number on your receipt which is issued to you on the day of your appointment. If you have opted for the SMS service you will be notified via SMS and email regarding the status of your application. The final SMS you will receive will inform you when the application is ready for collection in the Visa Application Centre.
