South Africa is saddened by upcoming developments on the Miss Universe crown.

Many can’t believe its already a year – and a half past the day Mzansi historically received the world’s beauty crown bestowed to Miss Zozibini Tunzi.

Now the time has neared for her to hand over the crown to its new recipient.

By formality, Zozi’s reign was supposed to end in 2020. But due to the Covid-19 induced lockdown, Miss Universe pageant was postponed to 2021.

The 69th Miss Universe pageant event will take place on May 16, 2021 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood Hotel in Hollywood, Florida.

Taking to their official Instagram page, the pageant organisers announced that they will be resuming the competition this year.

“The moment we’ve all been waiting for…The 69th #MISSUNIVERSE competition is heading to Hollywood, FL! 🎉 MISS UNIVERSE will air live around the world from Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Sunday, May 16 at 8:00 PM ET. @hardrockholly,” a post read.

What is still unknown, however, is how the event will be conducted since the world is still reeling over the effects of the pandemic.

Public gatherings or a certain number of people are still restricted in some countries.

” See you May 16th in Hollywood, Florida! My @missuniverse fan side is screaming!!😃😃😃 It’s always so exciting for me to watch the show and it is finally here 😍.I’m so excited for every contestants’ journey and I wish them all the best of luck!❤,” she posted on her Instagram handle.

South Africa will not be competing for this event.

Their reigning Miss South Africa is set to compete for the Miss World beauty pageant competitions whose dates are yet to be announced.
