About

Welthungerhilfe is one of the largest German non-governmental Organisations in development cooperation and emergency relief. Primarily in co-operation with local partner Organisations, our task is to contribute to the improvement in nutritional and income base for the low-income populations in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Communications Graduate Intern (Gweru)

Qualifications, skills and experience required:

Recent graduate with a Degree or Diploma in Communication/Journalism/Mass Communication/Public Relations/Media and Society Studies/ICT. Demonstrated experience in communications in social, print and broadcast media channels; Efficient in Digital Storytelling. Excellent command of written and spoken English and anyone local language; Experience working with a range of government, civil society and international partners; Current knowledge of Rights-Based Programming is an added advantage; Proficient in computer skills, Publisher. photography and use of relevant software and other applications of designing and editing, Excellent interpersonal skills

Head of Project

Qualifications, skills and experience required

A minimum of a Masters Degree in a course related to the goals of the program, such as Development Studies, Disaster Risk Management; At least seven years of relevant experience in the areas related to Disaster Risk Reduction, Forecast Based Financing, Natural Hazards, Vulnerability Assessment, Climate Change and Education in Emergencies or a similar position within a National or International NGO of which 3 years should be in a leadership position; Familiarity with disaster risk management institutions and governance concepts, emergency preparedness and recovery strategies and use of Crisis Modifiers; Proven record of increasingly responsible experience in planning and managing technical co-operation strategies and relevant learning, knowledge management and. advocacy programmes in disaster reduction, emergency response and education in emergencies; Application of theoretical knowledge in the design, management and evaluation of complex, multi-disciplinary capacity building programmes involving national governments, civil society and international organisations; Well-proven analytical and writing skills; Demonstrated abilities and contributions to policy and guideline formulation, resource mobilisation, team building, team leadership and management, Experience in coordination of complex field activities, supervising staff and project management; Strong skills in report writing, Financial management and administration.

Project Coordinator

Qualifications, skills and experience required

Advanced University degree in a course related to the program’s goals, such as Development Studies, Disaster Risk Management (Master’s or postgraduate studies); At least seven years of relevant experience in the areas related to disaster risk reduction, forecast-based financing, natural hazards, vulnerability assessment, climate change and education in emergencies in a similar position within a national or international NGO with at least 2 years leadership experience; Familiarity with disaster risk management institutions and governance concepts, emergency preparedness and recovery strategies and use of Crisis Modifier; Proven record of increasingly responsible experience in planning and managing technical cooperation strategies and relevant learning, knowledge management and. advocacy programmes in disaster reduction, emergency response and education in emergencies; Application of theoretical knowledge in the design, management and evaluation of complex, multi-disciplinary capacity building programmes involving national governments, civil society and international organisations; Well-proven analytical and writing skills; Motor driving skills with defensive driving training; Demonstrated abilities and contributions to policy and guideline formulation, resource mobilisation, team building, team leadership and management.

Three (3) x Field Officers

Qualifications, skills and experience required:

Degree in Geography & Environment/Agriculture/Rural development/ Disaster Preparedness Education Management or other related/relevant fields; Related Masterâs degree is an added advantage; At least 3 years experience in forecast-based financing, natural hazards and disasters, vulnerability assessments, Education in Emergencies, climate change, resilient infrastructure, and disaster risk management in a similar position within a national or international NGO; Familiarity with disaster risk management institutions and governance concepts, emergency preparedness and recovery strategies, and a range of disaster risk financing alternatives; Experience working and implementing projects in disaster preparedness and education in emergencies; Excellent command of written and spoken English; Very good command of spoken Shona and Ndebele); Good working knowledge of MS Office and modern telecommunication systems (telephone, fax, e-mail, internet); Ability to Ride a motorbike.

Three (3) x Drivers

Qualifications, skills and experience required:

5 O Levels including English; Clean Class 4 Drivers License; Defensive Driving certificate; At least 3 years experience as a Driver preferably with an NGO; Sound knowledge of road safety regulations; Working knowledge of local roads and routes; Appropriate knowledge of vehicle maintenance; The ability to utilize maps, GPS systems, and car manuals; Effective communication skills; Good time management skills; Punctual and reliable.
