Sjava Moves Back Home With His Mama As Lockdown Woes Bite
Musician Sjava has decided to move back home with his mama in KwaZulu-Natal.
The lockdown restrictions has seen many artists failing to book gigs and earn money, because the government has imposed a ban on crowd pulling entrainment shows in a bid to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Sjava is one of the artists whose hustle has been hit hard by the lockdown restrictions, such that he had to move back home in order to cut down expenses.
The singer opened up on his struggles in the industry saying
“We are not getting paid, we can’t work … so this is a very difficult time for artists right now. Truly speaking, we don’t know what we’re going to do now – our things have stopped.
“I’m even back home because I can’t make money. We’ve been suffering, we’re from the bottom – the ghetto – I’m sure we’ll survive.”
Sjava had just started getting his groove back after he was cleared from allegations of ra_pe made by his ex Lady Zamar.
The allegations caused him to lose out on gigs and get blacklisted..
The artist was even pulled out from his role on Uzalo in the light of those accusations and was having a hard time in the music industry.
He was on his way to a comeback when the government imposed strict lockdown measures once again.
However all is not doom and gloom as Sjava recently managed to land a role on eHostela, which is produced by the Uzalo showrunners.
He will be joining the eHostela cast next season.
eHostela director Mandla Ncgongwane revealed that he was happy to have Sjava on board saying.
“I’ve always admired his work when it comes to that, so we brought him in to basically shake things up as one of the antagonists within the story, and he’s also doing the music,”
Mandla Ncgokwane is not worried about the bad press that once followed Sjava due to the ra_pe allegations and said that the fact that the case was thrown out will even attract more viewers.
“People have been craving Sjava, they haven’t seen him in a while. He’s been living under this whole entire thing that has been a kind of a cloud over his life. But now he can express himself.”
Looks like his lockdown woes will not last for long as the artists gets to secure the bag from his acting role.
