Musician Baba Harare, real name Braveman Chizvino Mwanza’s picture that is currently circulating on social media is a reflection on how the Jiti Master humbly began his music career.
The picture does not only reflect the humble beginnings of Baba Harare but it is also a reminder of how many musicians start their careers.
Baba Harare took his fans for a ride by showing them a picture that was taken when he was still ‘young’ in the music circles.
In the picture, a young Baba Harare is posing for a photo while wearing oversized clothes and playing the guitar. He captioned the image,
“Vamwe vari kuti ndiye vamwe voti haasi iwe unoti ndiyani”
[Some are claiming that it is him, while others are saying that it not him. How about you, who do you think it is?]
For Baba Harare, he definitely has a story to tell. His dressing then and now is a story on its own.
The Jit musician learned to play the guitar at a very young age and later joined a band called Sigma Boys.
During this time, he crossed paths with a young and upcoming Mukudzei Mukombe who is also known as Jah Prayzah who was still establishing himself in the field.
After being impressed by his prowess with the guitar, Jah Prayzah later begged Baba Harare to join his band full time.
Baba Harare stood in for Jah Prayzah’s guitarist when he was unable to make it to 3 shows.
Baba Harare joined Jah Prayzah and the Third Generation band. He was with him for 8 years.
In 2017, Baba Harare went solo and became the frontman for “The City Vibration” band.
Since then he has made a series of hit songs which include 2017’s “The Reason Why.“
He is currently makings waves with his new track “Handidi Zvekumitisa” which features newbie Nomagugu Ncube.
