eMedia Investments, the company owning etv channel is looking forward to remunerating Rhythm City actors and crew with farewell bonuses in the coming month, iHarare can confirm.

etv decommissioned Rhythm City last year in November as “part of its business strategy” after running for 13 years.

The show’s last episode is set to air on the 16th of July, marking the end of an era for the much-loved daily.

It was widely reported in the media the decommissioning of the show came as a surprise to its cast and crew, who after months of this revelation were still dismayed over how the channel had handled the issue.

From recent developments, it seems like the channel management has decided to resolve their issues with the show’s cast – even setting a precedence for other channels on this regard.

They have decided to pay up farewell bonuses, as per labour law.

This was also confirmed by entertainment commentator, Phil Mphela on the microblogging app, Twitter this morning.

In keeping with e.tv‘s mandate on local productions, Rhythm City is set to be replaced by another local daily drama, adding to a now increased local offering of 4 daily dramas that include, Durban Gen and Scandal!.

Mzansi has commended etv’s action to give actors a farewell salary for their work.

“Wow that is commendable this industry needs to be regulated already so these things are mandatory for production companies,” one Twitter user commented

“Woow well-done etv we love this,” read another of many messages the channel received.
