Role Summary

This position has the important task of delivering first-hand information from the community. Reporting to the Research Lead, the Enumerators will be primarily responsible for collecting household demographic and socio-economic data in Bulawayo (Mzilikazi District) and Harare (Epworth and Harare South Districts) for a Mobile Cash Transfer and Building Resilience Project. Enumerators are expected to conduct household visits to collect data which will be captured in SCOPE. Collected data will be used to enable the registration of beneficiaries for the Urban Social Assistance and Resilience Programme.

Key Responsibilities

Attend Enumerator training workshop; Collect household information as per the requirements of the baseline survey tool through the door to door visits using Open Data Kit (ODK); Conduct household interviews using local languages; Work collaboratively with key stakeholders such as the District Development Coordinator’s office, Department of Social Welfare, any other humanitarian organisations and relevant government ministries on the ground; Consolidate and upload collected data at the end of each day; Perform any other duties as assigned by the Research Lead.

Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences or equivalent; Minimum of 1 year relevant and proven experience working in similar scope and environment; Must be able to work in a team setting and function in a culturally diverse work environment; particularly informal settlements; Self-starter and ability to work with minimum supervision and meet targets; Knowledge of GPS and map reading to locate targeted households; Knowledge of data collection tools e.g. ODK and Magpi; Extensive knowledge of the area under enumeration (Mzilikazi District) is key; Must have good communication skills; Data capturing skills; Fluent in NDEBELE (and Shona) for Bulawayo applicants and SHONA for Harare applicants.
