Please note that the duties and responsibilities of a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor and Professor are grouped into 5 main categories which are:

(a) Teaching – the incumbent is expected to teach or deliver lectures in accordance to the Department and or Faculty guidelines and standards.

(b) University Service – the incumbent should participate in all Department, Faculty and University activities such as attending meetings, training workshops, conferences and seminars, among others.

(c) Research – the incumbent is expected to engage in active research in his/her area of specialization which benefits both the students and the University

(d)       Innovations – leading to tangible products and services

(e)       Industrialization –through commercialization of products

 

FACULTY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY 

Department of Food Science and Nutrition

Post A: Temporary Full Time (1 Contract Post)

Qualifications

  • First degree in Food Science and Nutrition or related field with at least a 2.1 pass
  • MSc in Food Science and Nutrition or related field
  • A PhD in Food Science, Nutrition or related field is an added advantage

Duties & Responsibilities 

The candidate must be capable of teaching, supervising both undergraduate and postgraduate students’ research work, assess students on Work Related Learning and must be able to teach the following modules;

  • Advanced Food Microbiology and Biotechnology
  • Total Quality Management and Food Safety
  • Food Production and processing systems

 

Post B: Full Time Post 

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor (1 post)

Qualifications

  • First degree in Dietetics or related field with at least a 2.1 pass
  • MSc in Dietetics or related field
  • A PhD in Dietetics or related field is an added advantage
  • Must be registered with Allied Health Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe (AHPCZ) as a Dietician

Duties & Responsibilities 

The candidate must be capable of supervising both undergraduate and postgraduate students’ research work, assess students on Work Related Learning and should be able to supervise students’ research work and must be able to teach the following modules at undergraduate level;

  • Medical Nutrition Therapy I and II
  • Dietetics

  • Department of Land and Water Resources Management

Post A. Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor – Land use Planning and Agrarian Reform (1 Post)

Qualifications

  • BSc Honours in Land and Water Resources Management or related field with at least a 2.1 pass
  • MSc in Land and Water Resources Management or related field
  • PhD in Land and Water Resources Management or related discipline is an added advantage
  • Evidence of published research in the relevant field is an added advantage
  • Teaching experience at tertiary level will be an added advantage

Duties & Responsibilities 

The candidate must be capable of supervising undergraduate students’ research work, assess students on Work Related Learning and teaching the following modules in Land and Water Resources Management.

  • Feasibility Studies and Project Planning.
  • Land drainage and Reclamation.
  • Agrarian Reform.
  • Land Evaluation.
