Senior Specialist Scientist (Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention)
Core Requirements:
- PhD in epidemiology/public health and/or clinical qualification with practical experience on cancer epidemiology and prevention
- At least 8 years research experience in a research institution or a university, ideally in the area of cancer epidemiology and prevention in the South African and African context
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Experience in managing people and multiple projects as principal and/or co-principal investigator
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
- Ability to lead scientific writing, demonstrated through involvement in scientific papers as first or senior author
- Experience in grant writing as PI as successfully attracting funding for research.
- Experience in mentoring Masters and PhD students to completion as primary or co-supervisor
- Advanced knowledge of at least one of the following statistical packages: R, SPSS, SAS or STATA

SPECIALIST BIOSTATISTICIAN/SENIOR SPECIALIST BIOSTATISTICIAN/CHIEF SPECIALIST BIOSTATISTICIAN
Core Requirements:
- Hold a PhD in statistics, biostatistics, or biometry; at least 7 years’ experience in clinical and health research environments
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Evidence of post-graduate supervision (Masters and PhD students) in Biostatistical methodology and applied Biostatistical research.
- The ability to undertake and lead research projects in Biostatistical methodology and applied Biostatistical research project; or being a co-investigator or study statistician in Health-related project.
- Evidence of strong academic background and peer-reviewed ISI publication record in Biostatistics or book chapters, with at least 3 as first author in ISI journals
- Ability to interact with relevant stakeholders on statistical issues at the Health and Epidemiological project levels for research translation.
- Evidence of managerial experience.
- At least a National recognition in the field of Biostatistics.
- Thorough knowledge of statistical methodology in Health and Expertise in a specialized field of Biostatistics.
- Ability to communicate statistical concepts and information to non-statisticians in Health and Clinical Sciences.
- Evidence of strong teamwork to successfully work in a project team.
- Evidence to mentor, motivate and teach statistical science and technical staff.
- Ability to generate funding from project managed from statistical perspective or as a health project statistician.

STATISTICIAN
Core Requirements:
- Hold a Master’s degree in statistics, biostatistics or biometry; at least 2 years’ experience in clinical and health research environments

- Strong academic background and publication record is desired.
- Proficient in programming in at least one statistical software.
- Oral presentations on at least 2 conferences /seminars/meetings in biostatistics
- At least 1 co-authored publication
