JOB PURPOSE:

To craft, execute and evaluate Marketing, Client Experience and Corporate Affairs strategies; managing a discipline of the Marketing, Client Experience, and Corporate Affairs function and integration of the Division’s processes; services; resources and deliverables to enable Nedbank Zimbabwe Limited (“Nedbank”) to deliver on its business strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Alignment to Managing Director and the Executive team to drive the Marketing, Client Experience and Corporate Affairs strategies of Nedbank.
  • Lead the team to develop plans for Marketing, Client Experience and Corporate Affairs disciplines in order to deliver quality activities that drive exceptional client and corporate-level experience for Nedbank.
  • Design and implement Corporate Affairs processes that will ensure effective service delivery on internal and external stakeholder management and engagements; connecting the business and its stakeholders; corporate strategy development; reputation risk and conduct issues management; Sustainability, Environmental Social and Corporate Governance (“ESG”), and Corporate Social Investment (“CSI”); communications and Public Relations; and high-level engagements with public sector officials, private sector leaders and international agents.
  • Deliver quality activities to drive exceptional client experiences – on the plan, on budget and on time.
  • Design and implement the process of service management across all customer touchpoints.
  • Drive digital strategy and effective use of digital platforms to enhance the customer experience across the Bank.
  • Provide direction on leveraging research insights to develop Customer Value Propositions integrating them into Marketing, Client Experience and Corporate Affairs plans.
  • Integrate the Marketing strategy into the overall business strategy of the Bank working.
  • Be a Brand Champion – ensure all segment and product campaigns live up to Nedbank standards.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to facilitate a quality customer experience.
  • Ensure all business areas and decisions are aligned on the strategy and execution parameters of the business marketing strategy, not just the function, by engaging and communicating regularly.
  • Design and execute the Sustainability Standards for Value-Driven Financial Institutions and Sustainability Standards and Certification Initiative (SSCI) for the Bank.
  • Leveraging the Bank’s Corporate Social Investment (CSI) to contribute to those Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) that the Bank cannot directly target through its core business and operations.
  • Ensure compliance by managing adherence to policies and procedures and relevant legislation. Mitigate risk by identifying Marketing risks and initiating interventions to reduce/prevent and rectify them. Introduce global best practices in support of business goals.
  • Ensure alignment and achievement of strategy and create a competitive advantage by translating the Nedbank Zimbabwe and Business Unit strategy into a customized Divisional strategy.
  • Develop and introduce a people strategy that will create a culture that drives Nedbank Zimbabwe’s vision and values.
  • Build a high-performance team by managing resources, retention, and critical staff.
  • Manage the implementation of strategies by assessing performance and taking corrective action.
  • Ensure that the leadership agenda has been embraced by the division/function by ensuring leadership-relevant strategies and plans have been communicated and implemented by direct reports.
  • Manage performance of reports and hold them accountable for managing the performance of their reports by taking corrective action as required, recognizing and rewarding the team.
  • Actively build a culture of improvement by ensuring the design and implementing of active talent management, succession planning strategies for division and obtaining buy-in from relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to team effectiveness by participating in the recruitment and selection of staff.
  • Optimize performance and motivation by holding managers accountable for developing their staff and themselves.
  • Support Nedbank Zimbabwe’s strategy by driving corporate citizenship. Measure the effectiveness of the differentiated culture plan.
  • Develop and implement a strategy to build a differentiated culture of improvement and innovation.
  • Immerse yourself and your team in Nedbank Zimbabwe’s business plans to support their execution, meet their expectations and improve indicators year on year for function.
  • Build and maintain collaborative, long-term relationships with internal and external stakeholders to execute integrated business plans.
  • Ensure continued satisfaction of stakeholders, managers, direct reports, peers, and other managers.

Educational & Experience Requirements:

  • Proven track record with over 10 years in Corporate Affairs leadership positions of which at least 3 years must be in a senior management role.
  • Customer and Marketing experience at the senior management level.
  • Solid management experience in external and internal communications.
  • Solid experience in complex governance and planning processes.
  • Knowledge of, and reliable judgment on, corporate compliance and internal control processes.
  • Thorough understanding and experience in the banking sector
  • Clear communicator with excellent writing skills.
  • Business Management and Marketing Degree, MBA Degree an added advantage.
