AKA’s Fiance Nellie Tembe Dead After Falling From Cape Town Hotel

In a very sad development, Nellie Tembe, the fiance of music superstar AKA, died on Sunday after falling from the 10th floor of a Cape Town hotel. She was 22 years old.

Details surrounding Nellie’s fall from the Pepper Club Hotel in Cape Town are still coming in, but the police are reported to be investigating the death as a suspected suicide.

Commenting on the death, Western Cape police spokesman Captain Frederick van Wyk said:

“Cape Town central police are investigating an inquest case after an incident at a hotel at about 7:45 AM at the corner of Loop and Bloem Streets in the Cape Town CBD. The body of a 22-year-old woman was found deceased.”

The sad death was also confirmed by celebrated entertainment and celebrity reporter Phil Mphela who said that AKA is grief-stricken over the news of his fiance’s death. He also said that Nellie’s family will be releasing a statement later on.

Mphela wrote,

I can confirm that rapper AKA’s fiancée Nellie was involved in a fatal incident in Capetown.

The rapper’s management is not at liberty to share any further details and have requested that we give the family time to deal with the shock.

I’m told AKA is grief-stricken.

I was informed that Nellie’s family will be the ones releasing a statement in due course.

According to the local tabloid, Daily Sun, the couple was at the hotel as part of the celebrations for one of AKA’s friends.

Another publication, the Sunday World reports that Nellie Tembe committed suicide and that she was “suffering from depression.”

The newspaper referenced an incident in November last year where it says a video of Nellie circulated showing her attempting to jump off the Hilton Hotel.

“AKA has been reportedly helping her to deal with depression and even got her into counselling,” the Sunday World reported.

Nellie and AKA only got engaged in February after dating for several months. The rapper suggested that he may have paid lobola a few weeks ago following a cryptic tweet.
