1. FACULTY OF ENGINEERING AND THE ENVIRONMENT

1.1. DEPARTMENT OF GEOMATICS AND SURVEYING

1.1.1. Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor/ Full Professor (2
Posts)

Applicants must have a BSc (Hons) or equivalent in Surveying or Geomatics and
Surveying with at least an upper second (2.1) degree classification and a
Master’s degree in Surveying or Geomatics and Surveying. A PhD qualification
in Surveying or Geomatics and Surveying and a teaching experience at a
university will be an added advantage. The candidate should be able to teach any
three of the following modules: Engineering Survey, land Law, Rural and Spatial
Planning, Hydrographic Surveying, Surveying CAD, Environmental
design/planning, Mine Survey, Cadastral Survey, Surveying CAD, and Survey
Computations. The successful candidate will be expected to actively engage in
research and innovation activities in her/his area of specialisation leading to
tangible products and services.

1.1.2. Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor/ Full Professor (1 Post)

Applicants must have a BSc (Hons) or equivalent with at least an upper second
(2.1) degree classification in Geophysics and a Master’s Degree in Geophysics.
A relevant PhD qualification and a teaching experience at a university will be an
added advantage. The candidate should be able to teach the following modules:
Physical Geodesy, Satellite Geodesy, and Global Navigation Satellite Systems
(GNSS). The successful candidate will be expected to actively engage in research
and innovation activities in her/his area of specialisation leading to tangible
products and services.

1.1.3. Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor/ Full Professor (1 Post)

Applicants must have a BSc (Hons) or equivalent with at least an upper second
(2.1) degree classification in Computer Science, Information Technology,
Software Engineering or Informatics and a Master’s degree in Computer Science,
Information Technology, Data Science or Equivalent. A relevant PhD and a
teaching experience at a university will be an added advantage. The candidate
should be able to teach the following modules: Introduction to ICT, Database and
Database Design and Surveying Computer Applications. Applicants must be
versatile with a variety of geomatics and surveying software packages. The
successful candidate will be expected to actively engage in research and
innovation activities in her/his area of specialization leading to tangible products
and services.

1.1.4. Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor/ Full Professor (1 Post)

Applicants must have a BSc (Hons) or equivalent with at least an upper second
(2.1) degree classification in Geographical Information Systems and Remote
Sensing, or Surveying and Geomatics and a Master’s Degree in Geographic
Information Systems and Remote Sensing, or Geoinformatics and Earth
Observation. A relevant PhD qualification and a teaching experience at a
university will be an added advantage. The candidate should be able to teach the
following modules: Cartography and Introduction to GIS, GIS data structures
and algorithms, Photogrammetry and remote sensing, Spatial analysis, and,
Applied remote sensing. The successful candidate will be expected to actively
engage in research and innovation activities in her/his area of specialisation
leading to tangible products and services.

1.2. DEPARTMENT OF MINING ENGINEERING
1.2.1. Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor/ Full Professor ( 4
Posts)

Applicants must have a BSc (Hons) or equivalent in Mining Engineering with at
least an upper second (2.1) degree classification and a Master’s degree in Mining
Engineering or equivalent. A PhD qualification in Mining Engineering and a
teaching experience at a university will be an added advantage. The candidate
must be able to teach any three modules in the Department of Mining
Engineering. The applicant is expected to actively engage in research and
innovation activities in his/her area of specialisation leading to tangible products
and services.
1.3. DEPARTMENT OF METALLURGICAL ENGINEERING

1.3.1. Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor/ Full Professor (1 Post)

Applicants must have a BSc (Hons) in Fuels and Energy or equivalent with at
least an upper second (2.1) degree classification and a Master’s degree in Fuels
and Energy, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials
Engineering, or Mineral Processing. A relevant PhD qualification and teaching
experience at a university will be an added advantage. The successful candidate
will be expected to teach at least three of the following modules in the
Metallurgical Engineering Department: Fuels, Energy and Environment, Heat
and Mass Transfer and Electrical Principles. The successful candidate will be
expected to actively engage in research and innovation activities in his/her area
of specialisation leading to tangible products and services.

1.3.2. Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor/ Full Professor (1 Post)

Applicants must have a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Applied
Chemical Technology or equivalent with at least an upper second (2.1) degree
classification and a Master’ degree in Applied Chemistry or its equivalent. A
relevant PhD qualification and teaching experience at a university will be an
added advantage. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at least
three of the following modules in the Metallurgical Engineering Department:
Chemistry for Engineering, Metallurgical Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics
and Corrosion engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to actively
engage in research and innovation activities in his/her area of specialisation
leading to tangible products and services.

1.3.3. Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor/ Full Professor (1
Posts)

Applicants must have a BSc (Hons) in Metallurgical Engineering or equivalent
with at least an upper second (2.1) degree classification and a Master’s degree in
Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering or
Mineral Processing. A relevant PhD qualification and a teaching experience at a
university will be an added advantage. The successful candidate will be expected
to actively engage in research and innovation activities in his/her area of
specialisation leading to tangible products and services.

2. FACULTY OF EARTH AND EXPLORATION SCIENCES

2.1. DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
2.1.1. Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor/ Full Professor (1 Post)

Applicants must have a BSc (Hons) in Geography and Environmental Science or
equivalent with at least an upper second (2.1) degree classification and a
Master’s degree in Geography and Environmental Science. A relevant PhD
qualification and a teaching experience at a university will be an added
advantage. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at least three of the
following modules in the Geography and Environmental Science Department:
Geomorphology, Settlement Geography, Environmental Science, Meteorology
and Climatology, Transport Geography, Urban and economic geography. The
successful candidate will be expected to actively engage in research and
innovation activities in his/her area of specialisation leading to tangible products
and services.

3. FACULTY OF COMPUTATIONAL SCIENCES
3.1. DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED MATHEMATICS AND STATISTICS
3.1.1. Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor/ Full Professor (1 Post)

Applicants must have a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics or
equivalent with at least an upper second (2.1) degree classification and a
Master’s degree in any of the following; Applied Mathematics, Mathematical
Modelling, Industrial Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, Pure
Mathematics or equivalent. A relevant PhD qualification and a teaching
experience at a university will be an added advantage. The successful candidate
will be expected to actively engage in research and innovation activities in
his/her area of specialization leading to tangible products and services.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALITIES

 University teaching experience is a distinct advantage.
 Experience in Research and Innovation.
 Good communication and interpersonal skills

DUTIES 
 Contribute significantly to teaching and curriculum development activities.
 Actively engage in research, innovation, and commercialisation/ industrialisation
activities in specific areas of specialisation leading to tangible products and services.
 The successful candidates will be expected to supervise undergraduate and or
postgraduate student projects.
 Participate in community outreach activities.
 Participate income generating activities.
