A local NGO that work on education advocacy intends to hire a Project Assistant to assist in the implementation/implement a project that promotes citizen participation in school governance processes. The incumbent will be based in Harare with frequent travel to project areas and will be directly reporting to the Programmes Officer.

Key job functions

Implement activities that aim to promote participation of citizens in school governance processes; Community mobilisation, supporting trainings and coordinating awareness raising activities with other stakeholders in the area of education; Ensuring that implementation of activities is done according to the project plan: Monitor the project and ensure conformity with the M&E guidelines; Prepare periodic substantive project reports; Attend inter-agency meetings and assist on any programming issues; Work with the Finance Officer in preparation of budgets and in the payment of planned activities; Provide programme information to partner agencies, non-governmental organizations, Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and UN agencies

Desired skills and qualifications

At least 3 years working experience: Have experience in implementing community development projects, a strong background in initiating and implementing projects: Have strong research, advocacy and report writing skills: Have well developed analytical skills and the ability to absorb information quickly: Be highly organized, reliable, paying attention to detail and ability to work independently; Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, partners, external actors and allies; Advanced computer skills; Ability to work under-pressure, meet deadlines, prioritise workload and ‘multi-task’; Mature work practices, highly motivated, demonstrate sound judgment and the ability to respond positively to mentoring and directions; Have knowledge of the education system of Zimbabwe

Education
Applicants must be in possession of at least a first degree in social sciences such as Social Work, Development Studies, Education or equivalent.

Details of employment
This will be a one year contract with possibility of extension subject to availability of funding. Details on the conditions of service and salary will be shared with the successful candidate.
