Project background
The proposed project seeks to contribute to reducing maternal and neonatal mortality rates through improved access to maternal health care for communities in Nkayi district. The objectives of the project look at improving access and utilization of maternal health services in the district and promoting optimal Infant and Young Child Feeding practices amongst caregivers in Nkayi district. This will contribute to the reduction of maternal mortality. In addition, the project will build the capacity of Ministry of Health nurses, ward nutrition coordinators and village health workers to support optimal infant and young child feeding.
International Medical Corps is therefore seeking qualified candidates for this project. The positions are contingent upon funding being received from the donor. The incumbents will be based in Nkayi District and will be working closely with relevant ministries in Matabeleland province.

Role purpose
The incumbent will be responsible for providing efficient, reliable and safe driving services; Additionally, s/he drives the office vehicle for transporting authorized personnel and delivery/collection of mail, documents and other items ensuring the highest standards of discretion and integrity, sense of responsibility, excellent knowledge of protocol and security issues.

Key responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle to ensure roadworthiness of the vehicles; Take proper precautions to reduce potential security threats to passengers or property within the immediate vicinity of the vehicle and along transport routes; Ensure that the steps required by the local rules and regulations (pertaining to driving) are taken in case of involvement in accident

Candidate qualifications
Minimum O level qualifications with at least 5 passes; Must possess Valid Class 4 Driving Licence; Defensive driving certificate; At least 4 years’ driving experience working for a humanitarian organization; Mechanic qualification and experience an added advantage; Personal Commitment and high level of integrity; Good understanding of roads and road conditions in areas of operation – experience working in the areas of operation an added advantage.
